Happy holidays on behalf of the students, teachers, and all the volunteers here at Pageturner. We wish you all of our best for a happy, healthy, and peaceful new year filled with great reads.
2023 was such an incredible year and it’s difficult to pick which developments to highlight. Most importantly, we were excited to add several new classrooms, teachers, and their students to the program. The result? More young people are reading more of the books they choose to read!
Our volunteer book buying team was so busy fulfilling book requests, we added two additional book buyers this year. And we’re looking for a couple more. Anyone interested in joining the Pageturner team? Let us know.
We were also excited to help several other organizations expand programs such as book clubs and science projects by providing them with Kindles - Franklin Military Academy in Richmond, VA., Oakland Public Library, La Casa de las Madres in San Francisco, CA, and Achieve Academy in Oakland, CA.
We launched a weekly book review, Love That Book!, on our blog site this month. Love That Book! focuses on books for young readers. You can read the reviews on our blog site, or by following us on LinkedIn.
Thanks to you, our IREAD fundraising campaign raised more than $9,000. That’s a lot of books, cases, and chargers! And more devices were donated than ever before.
So, what are our goals for 2024? Well, the students, of course. Heading into our 14th year, Pageturner continues to grow and evolve. Focusing on supporting our young readers and their classroom teachers is our top priority. That means making sure our systems run smoothly, our volunteer teams are fully staffed and trained, we’re tracking the metrics we need to understand how we’re doing, and keeping you informed along the way.
